Title: Armature Action of AC Motors
Url: https://www.wisc-online.com/learn/career-clusters/stem/iau13408/armatu...
Creator: Bartelt, Terry L. M.
Publisher: Wisconsin Online Resource Center
Description: This interactive presentation, created by Terry Bartelt for the Electromechanical Digital Library, discusses the armature action of an AC motor. Bartelt begins by discussing how the armature and stator are pivotal in the conversion of electrical to mechanical energy, the beginning of the entire process. Once this basic explanation is complete, the author allows you to choose between learning how an armature works with either a synchronous or induction motor. Bartelt explains each using helpful interactive flash animations. These are not only useful in explanation, but they allow the student to more fully engage with the topic. Overall, this is a nice introduction to two different uses of an armature in mechanical engineering. The author concludes the presentation with a brief series of questions.
