Description: This article, created by James A. Hanley and Stanley H. Shapiro of McGill University, presents a dataset from an experiment designed to test if increased reproduction reduces longevity for male fruitflies. The dataset contains observations on five groups of male fruitflies (25 flies in each group). Each group was either assigned to live alone, with one to eight interested females, or one to eight uninterested females. Observations included longevity, thorax length, and the percentage of each day sleeping. The data collected can be used to illustrate techniques of survival analysis. Datasets are presented in .dat format.
