Title: Ethnomathmatics: A study of the mathematics in a variety of cultures
Url: http://www.mac3.matyc.org/anthropology/ethnomathematics_UW.htm
Publisher: American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges
Description: Created by Cinnamon Hillyard at the University of Washington, Bothell, this page presents an interdisciplinary course, which incorporates ethnography, anthropology, and the history of mathematics. In it, students discover the history and teaching of math from many different ancient cultures, including Japan, Incan, and African traditions. Here, visitors will find a sample syllabus with topics and goals for students, a sample student project in Mayan numerals, and a list of recommended resources from instructors. It's an excellent resource to incorporate cultural history into math curriculum.
