Description: This is the syllabus to a graduate-level course concerned with the study of current trends in geographically oriented information processing systems. Topics covered include theoretical perspectives of GIS, ontology, uncertainty in GIS, spatial analysis, geospatial data mining and knowledge discovery, communication, visualization, generalization, geolibraries, scale, time representation, terrain representation, GIScience, and finally, GIS and Society.
