Title: The Fleet Afloat: Concrete Experiment

Description: The Materials Science and Technology Teacher's Workshop (MAST) provides this lesson plan for students learning about concrete. The class will design a concrete barge and determine what the barge's maximum cargo will be. The lesson will give classes the chance to learn to work with the component materials of concrete and test a concrete structure's physical properties.

The experiment should take around 90 minutes of class time. Discussion questions and teacher notes are included.
