Description:
Two strategies for increasing the efficiency of an automobile are 1) to change the engine or fuel technology used or 2) decrease the weight of the vehicle by decreasing its size or the materials used to make it. These two strategies can affect each other, as the engine technology and fuel have varying weights, and the auto body affects the demands on the engine. This presentation provides an analysis of the effects of both of these strategies on the cost and environmental impact of an automobile.
